This is a list of significant railway dates from 1878 when the railway was first proposed to 2017 when the current Pukerua Bay station buildingwas opened.
The opening of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (WMR) line in 1886 had a greater impact on Pukerua than any other single development since the arrival of Ngāti Toa. Before rail the only way to reach Pukerua was by walking, by waka or by ship. These panels document the building of the railway.
